Trump's blog mentioned the Sarasota area in May too. Siesta Key has always been a popular destination but this year the Siesta Key Beach has been touted several times causing additional interest. In our May report on Siesta Key condos, there were over 460 condos for sale on Siesta Key including town houses and villas.

Currently the Sarasota MLS, reports over 400 Siesta Key condos for sale, as well as town houses and villas.

Lowest price currently for a minimum of two bedrooms and two baths is in the Inlets at $229,900 . As we always point out, Siesta Key condos with the best views and best condominium buildings are more expensive. The selection of condos on Siesta Key remains excellent. Interest rates are still low and if you're thinking of shopping for a Siesta Key condo, 41 condos, townhouses and villas are priced between $600,000 and $700,000, a popular price point.

Harbour Towne Waterfront Condos on Siesta Key

One of our favortie condominiums on Siesta Key is Harbour Towne.  When a customer asks for info about a condo offering boat docks on Siesta Key -- Harbour Towne is the one!  Deep water dockage for large boats is hard to come by on the barrier islands, and Harbour Towne is perfect.  As a former marina the docks at Harbour Towne condos are almost new and have access to the intracoastal, no bridges to the bay and deep water.


Harbour Towne is well kept with a strong Homeowners Association.  These Siesta Key condos are centrally located on the Key and there is beach access across the street.

In June 2008, prices ranged from $495,000 to $679,900.  Currently, there are only 2 Siesta Key condos, at Harbour Towne ranging in price from $450,000 to $495,000. Two condos have sold at Harbour Towne in the last six months.  A unit with 1217 sq.ft. of living space sold in October 2009 for $305,000 with a list price of $345,000 and another condo sold in May 2009 listed at 399,000. It may be time to make an offer as these popular condos have adjusted their listing prices. Make an offer, negotiate with sellers and make a "win, win" purchase.

Bay Oaks Condos on Siesta Key

One of the most affordable Siesta Key condos is Bay Oaks. Located across the street from the beach, Bay Oaks condominiums were built in 1975. Many of these units have been gutted and refurbished. Buyers looking for stainless steel appliances and granite countertops have scooper up some of these condos and done these top-of-the-line finishing touches themselves. Sunrise Cove is close to the Siesta Key's south end. Right across the street from Turtle Beach, these condominiums on Siesta Key have outstanding water views. Most of the units are 2 bedrooms and two baths, but Sandy Whitehead and I just sold a condo in Sunrise Cove with 4 bedrooms and 4 baths. The new owner is looking forward to gutting the unit and updating it with today's architectural detailing to make it an outstanding piece of Siesta Key real estate. The ground floor property has an outside deeded patio with tropical plantings. Sunrise Cove offers its residents boat docks too.

Siesta Key real estate is hot, hot hot! Since May, when Dr. Beach added Siesta Key to it no. 2 spot on the 10 Best Beaches in America list, the buyers have been giving Siesta Key another look. Showings, requests for website info and sales activity are definitely on the rise on this Sarasota barrier island.

The Sarasota MLS reports 635 properties for sale on Siesta Key including land, single family homes, condos, town houses, villas, boat storage and fractional ownership complexes. On the low end, there's a condo available at Sea Winds for $162,000, at Bay Oaks condominiums, you can purchase a one bedroom, one bath unit at $170,000. If you need more space and luxury, and Sarasota Florida will be your new permanent residence, there's a spacious Siesta Key home for sale offering more than 5,000 sq.ft. at the Sanderling Club, one of the few gated communities on the Key. This Siesta Key home is priced at over $9 million, but it's right on the beach.

Sandy Cove Condos on Siesta Key

The Sandy Cove condominiums on Siesta Key were designed by Frank Folsom Smith of the Folsom Group. In 1970, Smith won the FAAIA Honor Award for Sandy Cove, the first successful Florida cluster project. Sandy Cove was built in 1970 on the north end of Siesta Key in a tropical environment just off Beach Road.

The beach houses are pretty much gone and have made way for high rise condos. Some magnificent town houses area available too. Names like Crescent, Beach Villas, Seagrove and Summer Cove are now ready for buyers of Siesta Key real estate too.

In December 2008, our blog article reported on some of these newer Siesta Key condos which were built during Siesta Key's boom period. This might be a chance of a lifetime to find the perfect beachfront condo as prices have come down dramatically. Prices in our November 2008 blog article started at $213,750 for a minimum of two bedrooms and two baths in a unit at Vista Hermosa. Currently, there is a condo with one bedroom, one bath condo available at Sea Winds for $162,500. Location of a condo to the ocean, the condition of the condo and the building brings higher prices. Since the beginning of the year, we've had several customers viewing Condos on Siesta Key. In January, we posted about condos on Siesta Key between $600,000-$700,000 and wanted to update you on this popular price range. Currently the Mid-Florida Regional MLS, formerly the Sarasota MLS, reports over 460 Siesta Key condos for sale, as well as town houses and villas. Siesta Key's beach was no 2 in rankings released by coastal expert, Dr. Beach in his 19th annual "Top 10 Beaches" list last week. Dr. Leatherman moved Siesta Key up a notch from last year's list.

On May 25, 2009, Donald Trump's blog mentions the Sarasota area as prices start to rise even with foreclosures escalating too. Sarasota and Siesta Key remain on travelers' radars as one of the "hot destination" cities for vacationers.

Prices on Siesta Key start at a mere $30,000 currently in the Sarasota MLS. Keep in mind that we now have fractional ownership condos on the Key: the Beach club and Hyatt Siesta. Owners share their condo with other fractional owners. You do not have full ownership of these units. As I mentioned, prices start at $30,000 for these fractional ownership condos.

Lowest price currently for a minimum of two bedrooms and two baths is in Paradise Cove at $224,900 . Previously mentioned, Siesta Key condos with the best views and best condominium buildings are more expensive and the listing price, for some, are up to 4,250,000.
