Siesta Key real estate is hot, hot hot! Since May, when Dr. Beach added Siesta Key to it no. 2 spot on the 10 Best Beaches in America list, the buyers have been giving Siesta Key another look. Showings, requests for website info and sales activity are definitely on the rise on this Sarasota barrier island.

The Sarasota MLS reports 635 properties for sale on Siesta Key including land, single family homes, condos, town houses, villas, boat storage and fractional ownership complexes. On the low end, there's a condo available at Sea Winds for $162,000, at Bay Oaks condominiums, you can purchase a one bedroom, one bath unit at $170,000. If you need more space and luxury, and Sarasota Florida will be your new permanent residence, there's a spacious Siesta Key home for sale offering more than 5,000 sq.ft. at the Sanderling Club, one of the few gated communities on the Key. This Siesta Key home is priced at over $9 million, but it's right on the beach.

Sandy Cove Condos on Siesta Key

The Sandy Cove condominiums on Siesta Key were designed by Frank Folsom Smith of the Folsom Group. In 1970, Smith won the FAAIA Honor Award for Sandy Cove, the first successful Florida cluster project. Sandy Cove was built in 1970 on the north end of Siesta Key in a tropical environment just off Beach Road.

The beach houses are pretty much gone and have made way for high rise condos. Some magnificent town houses area available too. Names like Crescent, Beach Villas, Seagrove and Summer Cove are now ready for buyers of Siesta Key real estate too.

In December 2008, our blog article reported on some of these newer Siesta Key condos which were built during Siesta Key's boom period. Prices in our November 2008 blog article started at $213,750 for a minimum of two bedrooms and two baths in a unit at Vista Hermosa. Currently, there is a condo with one bedroom, one bath condo available at Sea Winds for $162,500. Location of a condo to the ocean, the condition of the condo and the building brings higher prices.
